Parent’s Night Out at the Baierl Family YMCA
Take a well-deserved break while your kids enjoy a fun-filled evening at the Y! Parent’s Night Out is the perfect chance for you to enjoy a date night or some downtime, while your little ones are engaged in safe, exciting activities with our caring staff.

This program is open exclusively to YMCA members and welcomes children ages 2 to 11 years. Kids will enjoy games, crafts, and interactive play, with a light snack provided halfway through the evening.

Our Y Social Skills Group, led by our experienced counselor, provides a supportive environment for children to strengthen their social skills. This program creates a welcoming space where participants practice communication, teamwork, and positive peer interaction through play and structured activities. Each week features engaging games, group challenges, and creative projects designed to build confidence, read social cues, and foster supportive friendships. It’s a great fit for children who benefit from extra practice in social settings or want to feel more comfortable connecting with others.

The Knight School Chess Program

The Baierl Family YMCA is proud to partner with The Knight School of Pittsburgh to bring exciting, high-energy chess programming to our community! Designed for ages 6–11, this one-of-a-kind experience combines strategy, fun, and skill-building in a vibrant, kid-centered environment.

The Knight School’s nationally celebrated “chess party” approach transforms total beginners into confident chess masters—all while having a blast. Through fun tournaments, team games, silly videos, and memorable tactics, students develop critical thinking, resilience, and sportsmanship on and off the board.

Each enrolled student will receive:
