Learn to Play Volleyball (Ages 8–13)
Sampson YMCA

Our Learn to Play Volleyball clinic is designed especially for children ages 8–13 who are new to the sport or building beginner-level skills. This fun and supportive program introduces essential techniques like passing, setting, and hitting, while helping kids develop confidence and a strong foundation in how the game is played.

At the heart of every drill and scrimmage are the YMCA’s core values:

  • Caring – Players are encouraged to support and uplift one another, learning the value of teamwork and friendship on and off the court.

  • Honesty – We promote open communication, fair play, and the confidence to ask questions and try new skills without fear of failure.

  • Respect – Coaches and players create a positive environment by listening, encouraging others, and showing good sportsmanship.

  • Responsibility – Each child learns to take ownership of their effort, attitude, and growth as they develop new skills and understanding of the game.

Through age-appropriate drills, guided practice, and team-building games, young athletes will grow their abilities and their character—setting them up for success in both volleyball and life.

Join us as we learn, grow, and play together—the Y way!

There will be no class on Friday, Nov. 28th in observance of Thanksgiving.

Next Step Volleyball (Ages 11–13)
Sampson YMCA

Take your game to the next level in Next Step Volleyball, a skills-based clinic for players ages 11–13 who already know the basics and are ready to grow. This program is designed to refine fundamental techniques—like serving, passing, setting, and hitting—while introducing more advanced skills, game strategy, and teamwork.

At the heart of this program are the Y’s core values:

  • Caring – Players support one another through encouragement and teamwork, building trust and friendships on the court.

  • Honesty – We create a space where athletes can be honest about their strengths and areas for improvement, knowing growth starts with self-awareness.

  • Respect – Emphasis is placed on sportsmanship, listening to coaches and teammates, and treating all players with fairness and kindness.

  • Responsibility – Athletes take ownership of their effort, attitude, and progress while learning the importance of commitment and hard work.

Through focused drills, small-group coaching, and match-style play, participants will build confidence, sharpen their skills, and deepen their understanding of the game—all while learning how to lead with character on and off the court.
