Join us on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM for our annual free community Back to School Bash in the Sampson Family YMCA Gymnasium!

Registration is required for each individual youth participant who will be between the ages of 5 and 12 on the date of the event.

The Sampson Family YMCA will be providing book bags filled with school supplies to help prepare children for a successful start to the upcoming school year.

Enjoy an evening of games, activities, giveaways, and family fun throughout the Gymnasium while supplies last!

This event is open to both YMCA members and non-members in the community. Registration is currently limited to the first 150 participants but may be expanded as additional donations are received.

🍦 Back to School Bash: End of Year Celebration!

Let’s wrap up the summer with a cherry on top! Join us at the Spencer Family YMCA for an evening of treats, tunes, and tosses. It’s the perfect way for families to celebrate the end of summer break.

What’s Happening?

• Build Your Sundae: We’re providing the scoops, and you’re providing the creativity! Load up your bowl with all your favorite toppings at our DIY sundae station.

• Groove & Move: Head over to the Sport Court where our instructors will lead a high-energy dance party designed just for kids. It’s exercise, but it feels like a celebration!

• The Big Splash: We’re heading outside to cool off with a classic water balloon toss. See how long you can keep your balloon intact before the inevitable splash!

• Where: Spencer Family YMCA

• What to bring: Comfortable shoes for dancing and perhaps a towel (you might get a little wet during the balloon toss!).

Get creative in our Cricut Craft Lab! Participants ages 10 and up will learn the basics of using a Cricut machine to design and create personalized projects. This will take place in our community room from 1-3 pm Tuesday and Thursday, August 4th and 6th.

Join us as we celebrate a successful and abundant Summer season of planting seeds and trees, building garden beds and friendships, and harvesting windfalls of vegetables and laughter. Enjoy live music, food trucks, light snacks from the garden and all ages activities.

Join us for Fall Migration Birding!

Many birds migrate after dark and can be seen early morning in the trees resting and searching for food. Participants will stroll the YMCA trails spotting and identifying different bird species. Afterwards, the group will migrate over to the building for hot beverages & doughnuts! Please wear boots or sturdy shoes and weather appropriate clothing. To enhance your birding experience, bring a cell phone for downloading the Merlin Bird App and binoculars.

Dive into the excitement with a high-energy Aqua Zumba class set to upbeat music, surrounded by glowing lights and vibrant energy. Kids and adults alike can enjoy glow sticks, glow-in-the-dark tattoos, and a lively dance party in the pool that will keep everyone moving and smiling.

Capture the memories at our Neon Photo Shoot—perfect for snapping fun, glowing family photos you’ll treasure. After all the action, cool down and treat yourself at our delicious ice cream sundae bar with all your favorite toppings.

It’s the perfect mix of fitness, fun, and family time—don’t miss this unforgettable glowing celebration!

Sen. Devlin Robinson, Rep. Natalie Mihalek, and officials will honor our community first responders and the brave men and women who responded on September 11, 2001, by climbing mechanical stairs in firefighter turnout gear. Constituents are invited to participate in various exercises designed to simulate actions of first responders. Bethel Park firefighters will be on hand to discuss volunteer opportunities, as well as an educational partnership with CCAC that may include free college classes!

Celebrate National Watermelon Day with us at the Sampson Family YMCA! Enjoy a glass of refreshing Watermelon Agua Fresca in addition to Fresh Watermelon for snacking to celebrate the ultimate Summer fruit! No registration necessary.

Introduce your child to one of the fastest growing sports! This two day clinic is designed for beginners. It teaches the fundamentals of pickleball–serving, scoreing, court positioning, and rallying skills. All equipment is provided.

Session 1: July 21 and 23 from 1-3 pm

Session 2: August 4 and 6 from 1-3 pm

Whether new or experienced with a plant-based lifestyle, all are welcome. Come and meet others who are learning and benefiting from plant-centered eating. You’ll receive helpful information, support, and cameraderie!

East Suburban Sports Medicine Center will be hosting a Senior Fitness Testing event on Tuesday, September 29th from 10:30AM-12PM in the Gymnasium!

The ESSMC Senior Fitness Test is a great resource for testing the fitness levels of older adults. The test results provide information to both the participant and the instructor regarding the  participant’s fitness level and compares that level to others in their age category.

Why test seniors? 

Fitness is very important for those in their senior years. Older adults need to  have adequate strength, flexibility, and endurance to accomplish everyday tasks. Assessing these components of fitness can detect weaknesses which can be treated before causing serious functional limitations.

What tests are included? 

The individual fitness test items involve common activities; such as getting up  from a chair, walking, lifting, bending, and stretching. The tests were developed to be safe and enjoyable for older adults, while still meeting scientific  standards for reliability and validity.

The following tests are part of the Senior Fitness Test and are designed to test the  functional fitness of seniors: 

Chair Stand Test — tests lower body strength  

Arm Curl Test — tests upper body strength 

Step in Place Test (2 minutes) — aerobic fitness 

Chair Sit and Reach Test — lower body flexibility test  

Back Scratch Test — upper body flexibility test 

8-Foot Timed Up and Go Test — agility test

Join us for Sensory Swim, a welcoming and inclusive aquatic experience designed for individuals with sensory sensitivities and diverse abilities. This special event creates a calm, supportive environment where participants can enjoy the pool at their own pace.

During Sensory Swim, the pool atmosphere is thoughtfully adapted to reduce overstimulation. Lighting may be softened, noise levels minimized, and attendance limited to provide a more comfortable and predictable experience for all.

This event is ideal for children, teens, and adults who benefit from a quieter, more structured setting, along with their families and caregivers. Our goal is to ensure every participant feels safe, supported, and empowered while building confidence in the water.

Join us for the Fall Storybook Trail Kickoff!

Take the kiddos outdoors and have some fun! This Fall’s Storybook Trail is all about golf. The trail is open September 12th-September 30th. Families can walk the trail anytime. Registration is only required for the Opening Day Kick Off craft and it runs from 12-2pm on September 12th. The trail is located past the outdoor pool at the back end of the parking lot.
