Aquatics: Parent & Child Group Lessons (Ages 6mos -3yrs)
At the YMCA, our goal is to create a healthy respect for water to keep youth safe while creating a lifelong love of aquatics environments. Accompanied by a parent*, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building swim lessons experiences. At the same time, parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.
Infants and toddlers will be introduced to the aquatic environment safely and comfortably to gain confidence and a healthy respect for the water. As students progress and grow, they begin to explore body positions, blowing bubbles and fundamental safety and aquatics skills.
*Parent must participate in the water with child during the class

Parents accompany children in Level A & B, which introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning body positions, floating, and basic safety skills.

Level A - Water Discovery
In Level A, parents and guardians join their little ones in the water for a fun introduction to the aquatic environment. Through gentle exploration and play, infants and toddlers learn to enjoy being in the water while building comfort and trust. This level is ideal for ages 6–18 months, though all ages are welcome.

Level B - Water Exploration
In Level B, parents and children continue to explore the water together, focusing on body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, and basic safety skills. This level helps young swimmers gain confidence and independence in a supportive environment. Ideal for ages 18 months to 3 years, though all ages are welcome.
*Advanced* class is for students who have completed Level B but do not yet meet the age requirement for Preschool.
